  22. When you get a new program disk,
  23. take a look at the files it
  24. contains with Windows File
  25. Manager (the yellow filing
  26. cabinet icon).  You may see a
  27. file called SETUP.EXE or
  28. INSTALL.EXE.  Simply select
  29. this file, and, if the program is
  30. a Windows program, it will
  31. install itself automatically.  An
  32. icon may even show up in your
  33. Windows main program when done.
  34.     Sometimes, this icon is in a
  35. brand new window all of it's own.
  36. It is easy to move icons to new
  37. windows by highlighting the icon,
  38. then select Move from the File
  39. menu.  If you leave a window with
  40. nothing in it, you can select
  41. DELETE from the File menu to get
  42. rid of it.
  43.     DOS programs can be installed
  44. in Windows also, even with icons.

  51.     To install a DOS program, or a
  52. Windows program without a SETUP
  53. program, first copy all the files
  54. into a new directory on your hard
  55. disk,
  56.     Highlight the window which you
  57. want to contain the new program by
  58. selecting it. Select NEW from the
  59. File Menu. Select Program Item. Fill
  60. in the boxes, indicating the exact
  61. program name, and the directory which
  62. contains it. Then select Change Icon.
  63. If there are none packaged with the
  64. program, Windows provides a set of
  65. icons from which you can choose.  If
  66. you have an icon of your own, you can
  67. type it's drive, directory and name
  68. in the icon selection box. The icon
  69. will appear in the Windows main
  70. program, and when you select it, your
  71. new program will run.
